The name of this wine is inspired by the medieval battle cry of the warlord Gattamelata and his garrison, who took possession of the Castello di Montegiove at the end of the 15th century. Gatto Gatto is produced from a blend of traditional Umbrian Sangiovese and Canaiolo Nero vines and Mis en Bouteille au Château.
It is a relatively young wine that retains a fresh and fruity character after a short aging in large oak barrels and older barriques and tonneaux. It has a bright ruby red color with a slight purplish hue, it is intensely perfumed, but it is also complex and enveloping.
Gatto Gatto goes well with most culinary occasions and does not require rigorous combinations, but we recommend serving it with appetizers, cheeses, cured meats and poultry.
