Umbrian Honey, from Marsciano (PG)

Amber in color when liquid, solidifies to a grayish beige. The aroma is intense, not very subtle, reminiscent of animal, dried mushrooms, licorice, and smoke. The flavor is usually sweet, slightly salty. The aroma is intense, finer and richer than the aroma. Crystallization is fairly rapid and compact, ranging from fine to coarse. It is used as an adjuvant in the treatment of respiratory tract conditions, as an expectorant, anti-asthmatic, and antitussive. It is also used as an antiseptic for the urinary and intestinal tracts, as a vermifuge, and as a healing agent.
